Buck Shot refers to large-diameter pellets, larger than those used for typical bird or small game hunting. The diameter of the lead pellets in this cartridge variant is 4.50 mm. Does this cartridge contain 4.50 or 8.40 mm pellets? The cartridge with product code V212702 contains 4.50 mm pellets. The 8.40 mm variant has the product code V212782. A single cartridge does not contain all pellet sizes listed by the manufacturer family at once. What does 32 g mean? This indicates the total mass of lead pellets in the cartridge, not the weight of a single pellet or the entire cartridge. How does the 4.50 mm variant differ from the 8.40 mm variant? With an identical 32-gram load, more 4.50 mm pellets fit into the cartridge, which can result in a denser shot pattern. The 8.40 mm variant contains significantly fewer pellets, but each pellet is heavier. The actual result must be checked with your specific firearm and choke. What is the difference between the 32-gram and 36-gram S&B Buck Shot cartridge? The 32-gram load is lighter and its manufacturer-stated velocity V2 is 370 m/s. The S&B 36-gram Buck Shot load has a velocity V2 of 360 m/s. Recoil and shot pattern behavior may vary between firearms. Is this a steel shot cartridge? No. The cartridge contains lead pellets. It must not be used in areas or situations where lead pellets are prohibited. Before hunting, always check the current regulations for both pellet material and size. Can the cartridge be used with a full choke? Suitability depends on the firearm barrel, choke, and the manufacturer's instructions. With large pellets, you should not assume that the tightest choke automatically gives the best or safest result. Use only chokes permitted by the manufacturer and check the shot pattern on paper. Is this cartridge suitable for clay target shooting? It is not a suitable choice for this purpose. Clay target shooting usually uses smaller pellets and 24- or 28-gram sport cartridges. In addition, shooting range rules may prohibit the use of large pellets. When is S&B Buck Shot 12/70 32 g the right choice? This variant is suitable for users who need a 32-gram load with 4.50 mm large pellets for a 12/70 caliber firearm. Compared to the 7.60 or 8.40 mm variants, more pellets fit into the same load mass, which can result in a denser shot pattern. If you need a larger individual pellet mass, consider the 7.60 or 8.40 mm variant. If you need to use a full-sized slug, choose a slug cartridge suitable for your firearm and intended purpose. The permissibility of each variant must be checked for the chosen game, area, and current regulations. Expert recommendation The suitability of a large pellet cartridge cannot be judged by the diameter listed on the packaging alone. Fire test shots onto a large paper target at actual shooting distances and check the center, diameter, and distribution of the shot pattern. Test only with chokes permitted by the firearm manufacturer. Before use, check the chamber marking on your firearm, the product code on the cartridge packaging, and the actual pellet size. Jahipaun code V212702 must be marked for the 4.50 mm variant; the 8.40 mm cartridge uses a separate code V212782. 32-gram load with 4.50 mm large pellets S&B Buck Shot 12/70 combines a 32-gram lead pellet load, 4.50 mm large pellets, a felt wad, and a velocity V2 of 370 m/s. This load is designed for short hunting distances, and the shot pattern should be checked in your firearm before use.
